About The Position

The Benefits Broker Intern (Fall Semester) will gain hands-on experience in the employee benefits industry while supporting the sales, service, and operations teams. This internship provides exposure to health and welfare benefits, client relationship management, compliance topics, carrier interactions, and benefits technology platforms. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, eager to learn, and interested in insurance, human resources, business, or healthcare administration.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Human Resources, Insurance & Risk Management, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in employee benefits, insurance brokerage, HR, or healthcare preferred.
  • Customer service or general office support experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of client presentations, proposals, and renewal materials.
  • Support account managers with client service requests and follow-up activities.
  • Help organize employee communication and enrollment materials.
  • Assist with benefit guide and open enrollment preparation.
  • Learn and support benefits administration platforms, including Employee Navigator and carrier portals.
  • Assist with enrollment audits and eligibility reviews.
  • Help verify employee enrollment data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support implementation and onboarding activities for new clients.
  • Research carrier plans, benefits trends, and industry updates.
  • Monitor industry news related to healthcare, compliance, and employee benefits.
  • Assist producers with prospecting activities and lead tracking.
  • Support LinkedIn and marketing initiatives.
  • Help prepare materials for client meetings and networking events.
  • Participate in carrier meetings and educational sessions.
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
  • Assist with data entry and CRM updates.
  • Organize electronic files and benefit-related documentation.
  • Support special projects as assigned.
