About The Position

Mandarin Oriental New York is seeking a Benefits Administrator to join their People and Culture team. This role is responsible for administering health and welfare benefits, maintaining the HRIS system, and communicating with colleagues and vendors. The position also involves day-to-day operations for Colleague Relations, including the delivery of Colleague Events. The Benefits Administrator reports to the Director of People and Culture.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-4 years in Human Resources.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits.
  • Previous experience in a luxury environment.
  • Previous experience with NYHTC Union Reporting.
  • Knowledge of different departments within a hotel setting.
  • Must possess the ability to coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Computer literacy including Workday, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Problem-solving and Action Plan formulation skills.
  • Requires high levels of interaction with all members of staff, exchanging ideas, information, and opinions to formulate programs and arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, and solutions.
  • Possess a high degree of stamina, agility, and flexibility.
  • Able to present themselves with an uplifting personality and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all MONYC sponsored health & welfare benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), LTD, STD, COBRA, Disability, Unemployment Insurance & Worker’s Compensation, and Parental leave.
  • Conduct monthly bill reconciliations for all insurance providers.
  • Track, input, and maintain individual colleague benefits information within the HRIS System and Health Benefits Fund.
  • Attend risk management meetings and track colleague incidents and retraining.
  • Maintain and organize a filing process for necessary paperwork, including enrollment processing.
  • Organize, control, and maintain monthly Benefits Enrollment for all eligible colleagues.
  • Report additions, changes, or revisions of benefit coverage to insurance providers.
  • Present Benefits Orientation for all new colleagues.
  • Maintain process and update I-9 compliance.
  • Ensure all termination paperwork is properly completed, including exit interviews, return of hotel property, locker inventory, and cancellation of benefits.
  • Prepare necessary reports for MOHG regarding turnover, retention, etc.
  • Manage all Colleague Relations programs, including Colleague of the Quarter, holiday celebrations, and functions.
  • Act as a liaison with the Company sponsored “charity of choice” to encourage colleague involvement.
  • Play an active role in the delivery of the MOHG Colleague Opinion Survey.
  • Prepare monthly and weekly reports for the Hotel Trades Council, including layoffs and reduced work weeks, working closely with the Payroll Manager.
  • Handle colleague inquiries related to all benefits offered, including claims processing, changes in dependents, personal information changes, and questions about specialists, primary care physicians, and 401(k) contributions.
  • Facilitate and monitor the transportation program.
  • Control the process of any Leave of Absence, including Short and Long-Term Disability claims, Worker’s Comp, FMLA/PFL.
  • Monitor and control the successful use of Worker’s Compensation Administration.
  • Maintain and update policies, procedures, and contingency plans.
  • Take an intricate role in the MONYC Safety Committee.
  • Work closely with the Director of Security regarding safety issues.
  • Support assistance for MOComp/MORate processes.
  • Oversee cultural and diversity events throughout the year.
