About The Position

The Benefits Account Executive is responsible for managing client insurance programs, serving as the primary point of contact for clients, markets, and producers. This role involves overseeing the administration of client benefit programs, coordinating with various internal teams and external vendors, and ensuring a high level of client service. The position requires a proactive approach, leadership qualities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Requirements

  • Maintain Group 1 License.
  • Demonstrated participation in (i.e. completed segments) in RHU, GBA or CEBS CE path.
  • Possess operational knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point Publisher and current internet technologies.
  • Ability to travel to meet client service needs.
  • Ability to speak professionally and comfortably in front of others.
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize work.
  • Willingness to work to meet client needs beyond scheduled hours by watching e-mail activity and answering important e-mails and calls after hours and on weekend, if necessary.
  • Ability to service our clients, vendors and co-workers effectively through problem solving, appropriate confidentiality, diplomacy, sensitivity and tactfulness.
  • Ability to be proactive (Does not have to be asked or reminded of tasks. Demonstrates a leadership role with the client in the overall administration of the Benefits Program).
  • Mastery level knowledge of fully insured benefits products, services, market dynamics, carriers/vendors.
  • Functional knowledge of wellness programs (both carrier-based as well as proprietary/client specific strategies), and client advocacy concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • (Internal) 3-4 years of Benefits Account Manager experience preferred.
  • (External) Minimum of 3-5 years of small market Benefits Account Executive experience preferred.
  • If no designation, then 5-7 years of experience as an Account Executive preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish a major plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact with the Producer, managing the client insurance program utilizing the agency management system.
  • Share knowledge, provide instruction, and delegate tasks to the Account Manager, Call Center, Benefits Admin, Wellness, and iCAF teams.
  • Inform the Producer of upcoming deadlines and events.
  • Maintain R: Drive/client files and manage workflows as per Department Guidelines and Benefits Timeline.
  • Manage and monitor the administration of client benefit programs, researching and answering questions regarding plans, claims, and billings.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver Wellness presentations to showcase MMA vendor capabilities.
  • Demonstrate a proactive work style and leadership role in all aspects of job performance.
  • Provide direction and guidance to other team members in the absence of more senior team members.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Manage the renewal bid/RFP strategy and process, including ongoing carrier/TPA/Vendor renewal negotiations.
  • Oversee and monitor the creation and maintenance of marketing binders, follow up with carriers for quotes, and oversee preparation of market spreadsheets.
  • Monitor and take appropriate action to ensure satisfactory vendor performance.
  • Stay up-to-date on carrier plans and websites, and negotiate with carriers on cost and program design.
  • Assist bSwift team with completion of requirements documents and set-up of client websites.
  • Ensure adherence to the MMA Benefit Timeline Checklist for client service.
  • Oversee development and preparation of communication booklets and client presentation materials.
  • Effectively service clients through problem-solving, confidentiality, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tactfulness.
  • Coordinate, present, and attend client meetings, including scheduling mid-year and renewal meetings.
  • Conduct enrollment meetings, coordinating agendas and times with clients and carriers.
  • Develop stewardship reports based on workflows in Benefit Point.
  • Gather and analyze ICAF, Milliman, Aggregate, and DMW reports.
  • Initiate own correspondence with clients, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Visit clients as necessary throughout the year for various purposes.
  • Delegate tasks to the Account Manager, ensuring compliance with their job description and the renewal timeline.
  • Manage development and preparation of communication booklets and Request for Proposals.
  • Ensure documentation to support actions and services are properly documented and filed in ImageRight.
  • Review Summary Plan Descriptions and communicate any corrections to vendors.
  • Personally check all client policies.
  • Oversee Compliance functions including Healthcare Reform, Self-Funded SPD, Stop Loss, Admin Agreement, Schedule A, Form 5500, Medicare Part D Disclosures, CMS Reporting, HIPAA, ERISA, and COBRA.
  • Review the first bill following renewal for accuracy.
  • Function as a team member of the Client Services team to ensure superior service.
  • Demonstrate appropriate judgment regarding task management and delegation.
  • Ensure tasks from the Account Manager and outsourcing teams are completed as directed.
  • Maintain and exhibit a positive, professional attitude, treating all with courtesy and respect.
  • Represent the agency in a competent, professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Client Services.
