About The Position

The Benefits Administrator position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.). This position provides excellent customer service and designs quality benefits plans. The Benefits Administrator continually investigates new benefits programs, improves existing programs, and supervises and monitors benefits administration.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and voluntary benefits.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, qualifying life events, and dependent updates.
  • Support annual Open Enrollment activities, including employee communications, system testing, enrollment audits, and follow-up activities.
  • Review and reconcile benefit eligibility files, enrollment data, invoices, and payroll deductions.
  • Coordinate with benefit vendors and carriers to resolve enrollment, billing, and eligibility issues.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding benefit plans, coverage, eligibility, and enrollment procedures.
  • Administer leave programs, including FMLA, ADA-related leaves, state leave programs, personal leaves, military leave, and other company-approved leaves.
  • Track leave durations, certifications, recertifications, and return-to-work documentation.
  • Maintain leave records and documentation in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Monitor leave deadlines and communicate necessary actions to employees and managers.
  • Administer day-to-day operations of the Company's 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Support employee education efforts by providing information and directing employees to appropriate resources.
  • Coordinate with recordkeepers, plan administrators, payroll, and vendors to resolve participant issues.
  • Assist with annual compliance testing, audits, notices, and required reporting activities.
  • Serve as a primary HR resource for employee questions regarding benefits, leave, and retirement programs.
  • Research employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value.
  • Design, recommend and implement new benefits programs. Examine possible plan designs and benefits cost changes.
  • Negotiate with vendors and administrators for best plans, options and rates.
  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing, LOA and workers compensation.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans.
