About The Position

Melanie Casey is seeking a detail-oriented bench jeweler with significant professional experience. This full-time, in-person position requires demonstrated proficiency across a broad range of bench techniques – ring resizing, stone setting, earring post and necklace assembly, and bringing raw castings to a final polished finish. Level 2 Jewelers are expected to work with minimal oversight and complete the full production workflow independently. Hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with occasional optional overtime. Onsite only. Targeted training is provided to guide Jewelers through the nuances of our specific product line. Our Andover, MA studio Bench Jewelers are seated at a dedicated bench outfitted with a bench microscope and set a wide range of diamonds and other precious gems. Each bench also has hand tools, torch, fume extractor, ring vise, etc. Laser welders are shared amongst a handful of benches. Ideal candidates are meticulously detailed, love making jewelry, and enjoy participating in friendly studio life. Jewelers operate under minimal supervision and are capable of self-critiquing their own work with an inspector's eye. All applicants must pass an on-site bench test to be considered for this position. During the bench test, you must demonstrate successful earring post assembly, ring resizing, 4-prong setting, fancy shape setting, and shared-prong setting, and bring a Melanie Casey engagement ring from a rough cast to fully set and polished.

Requirements

  • Degree, completed certificate, or equivalent professional experience in metalsmithing required.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Self-driven, organized, and able to meet production deadlines consistently.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a broad range of bench techniques including prong setting, sizing, and polishing.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the full range of Melanie Casey products independently, including all standard and moderately complex pieces. View our product line at www.melaniecasey.com.
  • Take a raw casting through the complete production workflow: cast cleaning, sizing, stone setting, polishing, and quality checks — delivering a client-ready piece every time.
  • Complete a high variety of bench work with minimal supervision, including ring sizing, polishing, earring post assembly, and setting a broad range of diamonds and gems.
  • Set stones accurately and securely across a range of techniques, including prong, bezel, pavé, and shared-prong settings, with no rework required.
  • Perform thorough self-quality checks before work is submitted for final inspection.
  • Accurately follow Melanie Casey design specifications to achieve consistent, optimal results across all pieces.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and management regarding workflow, timelines, and quality concerns.
  • Embrace and uphold the Melanie Casey production standard to ensure consistency across the bench team.
