About The Position

The Athenaeum Hotel, part of the Chautauqua Hotel Company, is a historic full-service hotel with 150 rooms, operating from late April through October. This seasonal position involves welcoming guests, managing vehicle and guest traffic at the hotel entrance, providing safe valet service, assisting guests with luggage, delivering room service and other guest requests, managing ice chests, interacting positively with guests, acting as a runner for departments, using radio communication for assistance, supporting housekeeping and laundry, and maintaining cooperative working relationships. The role also requires reporting vehicle accidents and work-related injuries promptly.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience and qualifications may lead to higher hourly pay.
  • Ability to use radio protocol.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative, productive working relationships.
  • Ability to actively participate in team meetings and training/development programs.
  • Ability to report vehicle accidents or other damage immediately and follow procedures.
  • Ability to report work-related injuries immediately and use appropriate forms.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests arriving and acknowledge guests departing.
  • Control guest and vehicle traffic at the entrance/front circle of the hotel.
  • Provide professional and safe valet service of personal vehicles for guests.
  • Transfer luggage to/from hotel rooms and vehicles.
  • Deliver room service, champagne, and other guest requests.
  • Empty water from ice chests and replace with fresh ice each shift.
  • Acknowledge and interact positively with guests, anticipate guest needs, and respond promptly.
  • Act as a runner to receive and transport various materials/supplies for all departments.
  • Use radio protocol to respond to calls for luggage assistance and pick up/delivery.
  • Assist housekeeping and laundry as needed.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative, productive working relationships with team members and management.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and training/development programs.
  • Report vehicle accidents or other damage immediately to management and complete necessary reports.
  • Report work-related injuries immediately to management and Human Resources.
