About The Position

Working in the McMaster Children's Hospital Extensive Needs/Mi Care Program, the Behaviour Therapist will develop and provide behaviour reduction treatment services and supports to children and youth (up to age 18), and their families. Services may be provided in groups, as well as individually. Parent training and workshops will be an integral component of the services. The Behaviour Therapist will work as a member of an integrated service delivery team within the Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre. As a result, the Behaviour Therapist may be expected to continue treatment for individuals who are referred across programs e.g. Urgent Response Service to Extensive Needs/Mi Care Program. The Behavior Therapist will also be involved in program development, implementation, evaluation, and consultation with community providers.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree with a focus of studies in behaviour analysis or a related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of behavioural assessment, service coordination, and treatment planning with children and/or youth with behavioral and/or a developmental disability.
  • Three to five years clinical experience in providing Applied Behaviour Analysis services to children/youth.
  • Experience in providing education/training to caregivers.
  • Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills and experience with data management.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and use of a vehicle.
  • Participation in a criminal reference screening process.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree with a focus of studies in behaviour analysis or a related field completed or in progress.
  • Experience in research and program development.
  • Bilingual fluency in French.
