We are now accepting applications a full-time Behaviour Interventionist to join the DS Behaviour Support Program. Behaviour Interventionists (BI’s) work directly with CYSN Children and Youth with Support needs who are referred through the MCFD Disability Services team. Full-Time - Permanent 35-hours per week Scheduled primarily between 10 am-6 pm Monday to Friday. Please be aware that these hours may be adjusted when necessary to support the needs of the program and / or clients served. Using an outreach, community-based, family-centered service delivery approach, and working under the supervision of the Behaviour Specialist Coordinator, Behaviour Interventionists will: Assist with implementing recommended behaviour management strategies and programs. Provide in-home consultation, education and assistance with implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs). Use positive behaviour interventions to reduce challenging behaviours. Provide personalized training and support to parents / caregivers to improve their resiliency and their ability to manage challenging behaviours and complex needs. Work directly with children, youth and their family members to strengthen relationships, reduce conflict, and decrease sibling rivalry. Provide a range of support, training, and consultation to improve the child’s development and functioning in activities of daily living, such as toilet training, social emotional learning, language and communication, sleep health, sexual health, social skills, school, domestic skills and community / leisure / recreational engagement, and mental health. Collaborate with CYSN-DS Social Workers, other service providers and community partners to provide comprehensive goal-focused interventions. Implement and maintain required case management and clinical records. Build relationships and connections within the community to improve service integration. Apply culturally safe and agile, trauma informed, relational and person / family- centered modalities. Preferred qualifications include a diploma or certificate in Behaviour Intervention or a related Social or Human Services discipline, supported by relevant experience. To be successful in your role, you’ll also need: Knowledge and a demonstrated understanding of strengths-based family systems and attachment-based support. To be well-versed in child development, developmental delays, neurodiversity, ASD, FASD and complex support needs. To be familiar with IHCAN assessments, and recommended interventions. The ability to establish trusting relationships with children, youth, and families. Experience working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team. Must undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search. $25.90 - $30.00 per hour, based on relevant experience and education. Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions); as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards!
