About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education required
  • Experience providing academic interventions and differentiated instruction.
  • Knowledge of progress monitoring tools, instructional data analysis, and evidence-based intervention practices.
  • Strong understanding of child development, instructional pedagogy, and high-leverage teaching strategies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and use findings to inform instructional decisions.
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to inclusive educational practices.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, flexibility, and a strong student-centered approach.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and continuous professional growth.
  • A “whatever it takes” attitude grounded in a student-first philosophy.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • New York State Teaching Certification preferred.
  • Experience working with middle and/or high school students preferred.
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities and/or multilingual learners preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate daily Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention groups in reading, writing, and mathematics based on identified student needs.
  • Deliver targeted instruction through push-in, pull-out, and small-group instructional models.
  • Utilize diagnostic and formative assessment data (e.g., NWEA, state assessments, classroom performance) to guide instructional planning and monitor student growth.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning profiles, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
  • Create engaging learning experiences that foster independence, confidence, and academic growth.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of intervention plans, student progress, and assessment data.
  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with students and families.
  • Create a physically, emotionally, and intellectually safe learning environment for all stakeholders.
  • Support students’ social-emotional growth by promoting self-advocacy, persistence, and positive problem-solving skills.
  • Use restorative and student-centered practices to manage behavior and redirect challenges constructively.
  • Maintain high expectations for student effort, engagement, and quality of work.
  • Celebrate student progress and achievement consistently.
  • Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff to align interventions with classroom instruction.
  • Communicate proactively and compassionately with families regarding student progress and support plans.
  • Provide families with strategies and resources to support student learning at home.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative and inclusive school culture that values diversity and belonging.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning, coaching, and reflective practice.
  • Participate in school-wide and network professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records related to grading, progress monitoring, and communication.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Support additional school responsibilities as assigned by school leadership.
  • Model a passion for learning and contribute positively to the ICS school community.
