About The Position

The Behavioral Tech is a paraprofessional caregiver who assists in the care and treatment of patients who have sustained an acquired brain injury. The role works under the direction and guidance of the Registered Nurse and includes direct patient care, supervision, therapeutic activities, safety support, and documentation. The position is based at Hospital for Special Care in the Neurobehavioral Unit and is scheduled for 40 hours per week. The posting identifies the shift as both “2nd Shift” in the title and “Third Shift” under Work Shift. The Behavioral Tech works primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor work related to community reintegration with patients. The environment is frequently noisy, and the schedule may change based on patient and unit needs. Occasional overtime may be requested. The role requires physical and emotional readiness to respond to emergencies, ongoing interaction with others, and occasional exposure risk to body fluids or bloodborne pathogens. Employees may be asked to float to other patient-care units or departments when operational and patient-care needs require it, provided they have the necessary competencies and qualifications.
