Behavioral Support Staff for Disabled Adults (Solano County)
About The Position
Strategies to Empower People is seeking full-time Behavioral Support Staff (Enhanced DSP) to provide direct in-home and community support for adults with Developmental Disabilities who require a high level of behavioral and/or medical supports. This role involves working one-on-one with clients who have Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities and exhibit consistent, high behavioral or medical challenges. The clients live in their own homes, not in group homes or locked facilities. The Behavioral Support Staff will provide direction and hands-on support with all client needs, ensuring clients actively participate in activities such as eating, cleaning, bathing, and toileting, rather than acting as a butler. The goal is to help clients engage in all aspects of their lives and their community.
Requirements
- At least six months of verifiable experience working with people who have regular behavioral challenges.
- Valid California Driver License.
- Current auto insurance.
- Clean and reliable vehicle.
- Patience.
- Adaptability.
- Creativity.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
- Willingness to advocate for clients.
Nice To Haves
- Experience beyond six months with behavioral supports (reviewed in relation to wage offered).
Responsibilities
- Provide direct in-home and community support for adults with Developmental Disabilities.
- Offer a high level of behavioral and/or medical support.
- Work one-on-one with clients who have Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities with consistent, high behavioral challenges or medical challenges.
- Provide direction and hands-on support with any and all needs our clients have.
- Ensure clients are actively participating in their own daily living activities (eating, cleaning, bathing, toileting).
- Facilitate client engagement with their community, overcoming behavioral challenges to participate in activities outside the home.
- Drive clients to community activities.
