About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking a Behavioral Resource Technician (BRT) to join their team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. This full-time position involves providing safety observation for assigned patients, maintaining a safe environment, and interacting professionally with patients, families, and staff. The role includes direct patient care such as bathing, feeding, toileting, and repositioning, as well as immediate reporting of any changes in patient condition to the nurse and documenting observations every 15 minutes. The BRT must demonstrate competency in one-to-one patient observation according to the suicidal patient policy and remain awake and alert at all times.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
1 year of relevant patient care experience required.
Experience as a direct health care provider, previous psych sitter, CNA, MA HHA or PCA
CPR through American Heart Association BLS Provider required.
CPI required within 6 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

2 years' experience working with behavioral health patient preferred.
This experience could include but is not limited to working with behavioral health patients, direct patient care, patients in a group home setting, experience as a paraprofessional, or has successfully worked in a BRT Apprentice Role for 1 year.

Responsibilities

Provide safety observation of the patient or patients they are assigned to.
Maintain a safe environment and interact with the patient, family, and staff in a caring professional manner.
Provide care for the patient and may include bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, turning, and repositioning as assigned.
Reporting any changes in the patient’s condition or behavior to the nurse immediately and documenting every 15 minutes during their shift.
Demonstrates competency for one-to-one observation of patients based on the care of the suicidal patient policy.
Staff providing patient safety observation must remain awake and alert at all times.
Other duties and responsibilities as required.
