About The Position

The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program operates on the campus of Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee and at Sunland in Marianna under the auspices of The State of Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program (DDDP) is dedicated to empowering people with developmental disabilities charged with a felony crime to: Acquire the skills and support that will prepare them for success in their future environments. Acquire the skills needed to become competent to stand trial. Pathways is a 34-bed secure, forensic residential facility serving adult males with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have significant behavioral and psychiatric support needs. The program provides vocational training, rehabilitative services, and daily living skills instruction designed to promote independence, increase employability, and support successful transition to less restrictive residential and community settings. As the Vocational Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of the vocational services department and provide direct supervision to vocational training instructors. Responsibilities include coordinating vocational programming and activities, ensuring adequate staffing and program coverage, monitoring resident safety and security, reviewing vocational assessments and progress reports, maintaining program compliance and documentation, managing supplies and resources, and supporting the development of meaningful vocational opportunities for residents. This position plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and individualized vocational services that help residents build skills necessary for greater independence and successful community integration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and at least two (2) years of experience in housekeeping, groundskeeping, maintenance, or related work.
  • College education or technical training may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or 720 classroom hours equals one year of experience).
  • A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs the assigned Vocational Training Instructors at Pathways including performance evaluations and reviews, disciplinary action in accordance with department standards, monitoring and approval of employee leave, and staff scheduling of adequate program coverage.
  • Ensures and supports the safety, supervision, and security of residents.
  • Ensures and supports the completion of individual vocational assessments, training objectives, written summaries, progress reports, time studies, and other vocational-related projects as assigned.
  • Prepares and/or reviews appropriate documentation of all unusual or significant events.
  • Attends meetings as assigned including support plan meetings, in-service meetings, and staff meetings in accordance with policy.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and clean vocational environment.
  • Reviews vocational programs as needed to ensure safe, secure, and effective training procedures and outcomes.
  • Initiates and submits work orders, supply requests, and other vocational-related requests to the area director.
  • Plans and coordinates vocational events and activities at Pathways, which includes submitting purchase orders and coordinating the use of client trust funds with Sunland’s Bank.
