This position works under clinical supervision and requires considerable knowledge of behavioral healthcare programs and program techniques. As a member of an interdisciplinary mental health treatment team, the provider is responsible for assigned mental health interventions for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders. The role involves completing screenings, including detailed mental health screens and risk assessments, such as suicide watch assessments when within their scope of practice and allowable per their credentialing board, ODRC policy, and in consultation with an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional. The provider will conduct individual and group clinical interventions as prescribed on the individual mental health treatment plan, provide psychosocial group interventions, and offer mental health liaison services. This includes monitoring offender progress, completing psychosocial needs and treatment assessments, and preparing transfer and discharge summaries. Consultation with other institution staff regarding inmate adjustment and service needs is also a key responsibility. The role involves initiating and maintaining contact with families and community agencies, providing and seeking information related to patient care, and making appropriate community referrals. Documentation of all inmate contacts, progress notes, discharge plans, and other reports is required, including electronic documentation. The provider will attend social work or counselor supervision meetings, in-service training sessions, and workshops for professional development. Teaching in-service sessions may also be assigned.
