Requirements
- education in the medical field, medical office assistant certification, or medical terminology
- excellent customer service skills
- good attention to detail
- ability to work independently
- Highly self-motivated

- experience in patient access role preferred
Responsibilities
- Greets patients and visitors to the Behavioral Health Department with a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
- Answers phone calls and coordinates activities of the Behavioral Health Department.
- Registers patients with correct patient identity and accurate information within the electronic record system (Epic). Verifies insurance coverage.
- Schedules appointments and checks in appointments.
- Obtains patient consent for treatment.
- Scans consent forms and other documents as requested into Epic.
- Completes missing account information through assigned work queues.
- Enters charges into patient accounts on Epic.
- Files and maintains Behavioral Health records.
- Obtains preauthorization for services when needed.
- Releases protected health information with guidance from Health Information staff.
