We are currently seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to join our Iowa Clinical Department. As a Behavioral Health Specialist, you’ll work directly with individuals to assess their needs, develop personalized care plans, and connect them with essential services and supports. Requirements

  • Current and active license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Effective computer skills with familiarity with suite of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Reliable transportation to travel within assigned region as business requires.
  • Valid driver’s license and car insurance as required by State law.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in behavioral health assessment, case management, or related services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to the CareStar Rule in performance of job responsibilities.
  • Understands and complies with CareStar Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality as related to patient information. Any disclosures of confidential information made unlawfully outside the proper course of duty will be treated as a serious disciplinary offence.
  • Follows the Acceptable Use Policy while using any information systems owned or controlled by CareStar.
  • Complete behavioral health assessments and related documentation within established timelines.
  • Evaluate behavioral health symptoms, functional impact, support needs, and risk factors.
  • Communicate assessment outcomes to appropriate parties in accordance with policy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Support coordination with behavioral health providers, case managers, MCOs, and agency personnel.
  • Recognize and escalate urgent behavioral health concerns, safety issues, or service gaps.
