About The Position

This position involves providing direct patient care to individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crises. The role focuses on assessing patient needs, implementing nursing care plans, ensuring safety, and fostering a supportive environment. The Behavioral Health RN will also educate patients on essential life skills and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing
• Ability to assess patients in acute psychiatric crises
• Skills in implementing nursing care plans
• Proficiency in monitoring patient and environmental safety
• Ability to foster a safe and nurturing environment
• Competence in patient education on interpersonal and self-care skills
• Ability to assist patients with activities of daily living
• Experience conducting age-appropriate psycho-educational groups
• Skill in recognizing and responding to changes in patient conditions
• Effective communication skills for multidisciplinary team collaboration

Responsibilities

• Collects data and collaborates with RNs in the assessment processes of patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises.
• Facilitates the implementation of nursing care plans promoting emotional well-being as delegated.
• Monitors safety of patients and the environment of care.
• Fosters a safe and nurturing environment that encourages and reinforces constructive interactions amongst patients.
• Educates patients on interpersonal and self-care skills.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Conducts age-appropriate psycho-educational groups.
• Recognizes critical and obvious changes in patient conditions and reacts promptly.
• Communicates patient care observations and safety concerns to members of the multidisciplinary team.
