About The Position

Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center's Behavioral Health Department is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Receptionist. This role is crucial in providing a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and visitors, ensuring smooth operations, and maintaining patient confidentiality. The receptionist will handle a variety of administrative tasks, including managing patient records, financial information, and office supplies, while also being prepared to assist patients in distress and respond to emergencies.

Requirements

Minimum: High School diploma
At least one year of customer service experience working in a medical/mental health office or equivalent

Nice To Haves

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in related field

Responsibilities

Serves patients by greeting and helping them, and maintaining log books
Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and answering or referring inquiries.
Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
Ensures availability of treatment information by filing patient medical record
Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information.
Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
