Children’s Behavioral Health Program Coordinator
About The Position
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Behavioral Health Program Coordinator to ensure children with behavioral health needs have access to effective services in the least restrictive environment. This full-time position, located in Augusta, requires regular travel throughout Somerset & Kennebec Counties and allows for partial telework with management approval. The role involves supporting parents, caregivers, and professional colleagues in navigating the child behavioral health system of care, collaborating with other state agencies (OADS, OBH, Child Welfare, Mainecare) to ensure youth obtain appropriate services, and participating in community-based collaborative meetings. The coordinator will also facilitate and attend meetings regarding complex youth needs in various settings and serve as part of a statewide team focused on promising and evidenced-based practice models, policy informing, and consistency across districts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the Social Sciences and four (4) years' experience in professional community behavioral health work.
- Experience coordinating services for children with serious emotional disturbances and developmental disabilities.
- Experience collaborating with both private and state child serving agencies.
- Prior experience working with clients with complex and challenging social services needs toward a successful resolution.
Nice To Haves
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work may be substituted for two (2) years' experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that children with behavioral health needs have access to the most effective services in the least restrictive environment.
- Supporting parents, caregivers, and other professional colleagues within Kennebec and Somerset Counties to access and navigate the child behavioral health system of care in Maine.
- Working collaboratively with other state agencies to include OADS, OBH (adults), Child Welfare, and Mainecare, to ensure youth obtain appropriate services and supports.
- Participating in community-based collaborative meetings and forums specific to Kennebec and Somerset Counties.
- Facilitate and/or attend meetings regarding complex youth needs, to include but not limited to emergency rooms, psychiatric hospitals, crisis units, and residential programs.
- Serving as part of a statewide team of professionals keeping abreast of promising and evidenced-based practice models, informing policy and practice, and maintaining consistency across districts.
