About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in correctional healthcare, has an opening for a Full-Time Qualified Behavioral Health Professional at the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention Facility in Wichita, Kansas. This role involves working with all disciplines on the Behavioral Health Unit to effectively serve the patient population within an underserved community. VitalCore values education and teamwork, promoting a positive work environment based on respect and appreciation.
Requirements
- Must be a Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician who can administer assessments, make clinical decisions, provide Mental Health treatment, and hold any of the following licenses: LMSW, LPC, or equivalent.
- Must possess active CPR certification.
- Excellent and timely documentation skills required.

- Experience in correctional healthcare.
- Experience working with a juvenile detention facility population.
Responsibilities
- Performs risk assessment of inmates.
- Coordinates care with interdisciplinary team including medical staff, community providers, psychiatric hospitals, and corrections.
- Performs discharge planning.
- Assists inmates in planning and implementing treatment goals for the duration of their stay.
- Assists in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of programs and projects.
- Provides preparation of documentation, necessary records, and reports.
- Utilizes clinical skills such as prioritizing treatment needs, crisis management, and brief clinical interventions including CBT and Motivational Interviewing.
- Makes independent clinical decisions, while utilizing assistance and supervisory intervention, as needed.
