Behavioral Health Nurse (RN/LPN)
About The Position
Baptist Health Richmond is seeking compassionate, patient-centered nursing professionals for our Behavioral Health team. We are accepting applications from both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). This role is within the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU), a secured, therapeutic inpatient setting providing short-term, intensive psychiatric care to patients experiencing acute mental health crises. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, therapists, and behavioral health technicians, who collaborate to develop individualized treatment plans.
Requirements
- Must be licensed in Kentucky as a practical nurse or must have a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
- Completion of an accredited registered nurse associate degree or bachelor’s degree nursing program within 3 years of hire.
- Completion and maintenance of BLS and other designated unit specific certification and training requirements.

Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of a behavioral health (BH) registered nurse (RN), the licensed practical nurse (LPN), within scope of the LPN practice and regulatory standards, assists the RN in providing and coordinating holistic care of the patient.
- Assists the RN with assessment of patient’s clinical and functional status.
- Performs assessment of patient’s clinical and functional status with input and oversight of an RN.
- Contributes to completion of patient database and ongoing assessment.
- Considers the patient’s culture, age and developmental level.
- Documents concurrently.
- Identifies patient risk factors.
- Performs physical and psychosocial assessment according to scope of practice.
- Collects physiologic monitoring data (patient weight, vital signs, lab results and diagnostic test results) upon admission and ongoing.
- Delegates appropriate work to unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) while taking responsibility for the work delegated.
