About The Position

Baptist Health Richmond is seeking compassionate, patient-centered nursing professionals to join our Behavioral Health team. We are accepting applications from both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) is a secured, therapeutic inpatient setting that provides short-term, intensive psychiatric care to patients experiencing acute mental health crises. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, therapists, and behavioral health technicians, who collaborate to develop individualized treatment plans. Behavioral health nurses are multifaceted, implementing treatment plans and ensuring patient care. They demonstrate a broad range of nursing skills, practical knowledge of communication, emotional intelligence, and compassion. The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness, honoring the patient’s mind, body, and spirit by respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. The Registered Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy, honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness. This includes assessment and identification of patient needs and implementation of appropriate interventions considering the needs of patient populations per department scope of service. Delegation of nursing care activities and provisions of supervision; establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently.
