About The Position

Advocate Health Behavioral Health Outpatient Medication Services is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) specializing in Psychiatry to join our outpatient behavioral health team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position offers the opportunity to provide compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care for patients through the lifespan within a collaborative multidisciplinary practice environment. This role is primarily remote with occasional onsite coverage on Fridays as needed. The position offers a Monday-Friday schedule with 36 patient contact hours weekly, with no weekends, holidays, or call responsibilities. Teaching opportunities are available with residents, APP students, and APP Fellows. Eligible for performance incentive bonuses.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (for NPs)
  • Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing Practice required (for NPs)
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) required (for NPs)
  • Current North Carolina NP/APRN and RN licensure required (for NPs)
  • DEA license and prescriptive authority required (for NPs)
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required (for NPs)
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (for PAs)
  • NCCPA certification required/preferred (for PAs)
  • Current North Carolina PA licensure required (for PAs)
  • DEA license and prescriptive authority required (for PAs)
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required (for PAs)

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of Psychiatry or Behavioral Health experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team
  • Prior outpatient psychiatry or behavioral health experience preferred
  • CAQ certification preferred (for PAs)

Responsibilities

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic psychiatric conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications appropriately
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, nursing staff, and care teams
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans
  • Document patient encounters accurately within the medical record
  • Participate in departmental meetings and quality initiatives
