Specialty care APPs at Atrium Health Rheumatology provide focused outpatient care in a single system, serving patients with complex autoimmune and chronic rheumatologic conditions. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Licensure required in NC and SC
  • Nurse Practitioners must have a master’s or doctorate in nursing practice with certification in their area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body (e.g., AGNP, AGACNP, PNP, etc.)
  • Physician Assistants must graduate from an accredited PA program with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments
  • Records findings and develops/implements patient plans of care
  • Performs minor office-based medical and/or surgical procedures, including joint injections
  • Orders, interprets, and follows up on diagnostic tests including lab and radiology
  • Writes and administers prescriptions
  • Provides patient and family education
  • Documents all patient encounters and interventions in the EMR
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served
  • Attends and contributes to team development and quality initiatives
