About The Position

Advocate Health Behavioral Health Outpatient Medication Services is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) specializing in Psychiatry to join our outpatient behavioral health team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position offers the opportunity to provide compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care for patients through the lifespan within a collaborative multidisciplinary practice environment. This is an outpatient behavioral health role with remote work options, offering a Monday-Friday schedule with no weekends, holidays, or call responsibilities. Teaching opportunities are available with residents, APP students, and APP Fellows. The role is eligible for performance incentive bonuses.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing Practice required, Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) required, Current North Carolina NP/APRN and RN licensure required, DEA license and prescriptive authority required, BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Physician Assistant Candidates: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program, NCCPA certification required/preferred, CAQ certification preferred, Current North Carolina PA licensure required, DEA license and prescriptive authority required, BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of Psychiatry or Behavioral Health experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team
  • Prior outpatient psychiatry or behavioral health experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic psychiatric conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications appropriately
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, nursing staff, and care teams
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans
  • Document patient encounters accurately within the medical record
  • Participate in departmental meetings and quality initiatives
