About The Position

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Counselor with extensive experience providing individual and group counseling services to children, adolescents, and families. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Native children and families while working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment that values cultural respect and community wellness. The Child and Family Services team is looking for a candidate who is skilled in trauma-informed, culturally responsive care and can collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to support emotional wellness and family stability. A strong understanding of working within a tribal community, including knowledge of SRPMIC culture, values, and community needs, is essential.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or closely related area
  • Two (2) years of direct counseling experience
  • One (1) year of full-time supervisory experience in a major behavioral health services related program
  • Possesses or within 6 months of hire, obtained at least one (1) of the following licenses to practice in Arizona: Associate Counselor (LAC) or Professional Counselor (LPC); Associate Marriage and Family Counselor (LAMFT) or Marriage and Family Counselor; Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or; Associate Substance Abuse Counselor (LASAC) or Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC)
  • Extensive experience providing individual and group counseling services to children, adolescents, and families
  • Skilled in trauma informed, culturally responsive care
  • Able to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong understanding of how to work within a tribal community, including knowledge of SRPMIC culture, values, and community needs
  • Successful completion of an extensive background investigation
  • Pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check
  • Pass drug and alcohol testing

Responsibilities

  • Completing assessments
