Behavioral Health Clinician, Full Time, Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit
About The Position
The Behavioral Health Clinician shall plan and implement therapy services. The Clinician shall function as part of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for assessments, group, individual and family therapy, case management, and other therapeutic services. This individual is also responsible to provide collaborative discharge planning services with patients and their families to promote adequate and timely discharge plans. In addition, the Clinician may assume primary therapist responsibilities as directed by the Physician. The Clinician may also serve as a preceptor to Behavioral Health interns. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related field required.
- Active Alabama LMSW or ALC required.
- BLS required.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
- Strong team leadership skills.
- Strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
- Must be able to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to develop trust with leaders in the organizations.
- Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.

- Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations.
- Knowledge of diagnostic criteria from the most current DSM.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with psychiatry, behavioral health, and knowledge of case management is preferred.
- Additional certifications (Secure, ACLS, PALS, etc.) may be required depending upon area assigned.
Responsibilities
