About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor for River Valley Services (RVS) in Middletown, CT. This position provides clinical and administrative leadership for community-based behavioral health programs, overseeing multidisciplinary teams serving individuals with severe and complex behavioral health and substance-related conditions. The role involves managing day-to-day clinical operations, supporting staff development and performance, coordinating hiring and training, and ensuring services are responsive to client needs. It also plays a key role in risk management, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of trauma-informed and culturally sensitive services. As part of agency leadership, the supervisor influences clinical practice, strengthens services, supports staff, and ensures high-quality client care. DMHAS is the state agency responsible for a comprehensive system of behavioral health services for adults with mental health and substance use conditions in Connecticut, aiming for accessible, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based care. RVS provides a broad range of behavioral health and substance use treatment services to adults in central Connecticut, focusing on person-centered, recovery-focused care.

Requirements

Four (4) years of professional experience in behavioral health care and a Master’s degree in a clinical discipline, public health administration, health care administration or hospital administration.
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been supervising professional staff.
Must maintain the appropriate current license for clinical social work, marital and family therapist, professional counselor, registered nurse, psychologist or alcohol and drug counselor (for DMHAS).

Experience and expertise in providing clinical and administrative supervision to multi-disciplinary teams providing comprehensive, community-based services to people with severe and complex behavioral health and substance-related conditions.
Experience in providing clinical supervision to staff related to evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT), and Trauma-informed care.
Knowledge and experience related to the assessment and management of risk in a community-based setting and the ability to consult with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement plans to mitigate risk factors.
Knowledge and experience in providing leadership regarding compliance with Joint Commission requirements and participating in the development and implementation of related policies and procedures.
