About The Position

The Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) has an opening for a Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor (PCN 139932) at the Western CT Mental Health Network (WCMHN) in the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) and Community Support Program (CSP) in Waterbury. This position plays a direct role in supporting patient and staff safety, reducing behavioral health risks, strengthening the clinical team, and ensuring that individuals receive effective, coordinated, and supportive treatment.

Requirements

Four (4) years of professional experience in behavioral health care and a Master’s degree in a clinical discipline, public health administration, health care administration or hospital administration.
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been supervising professional staff.
Incumbents in this class must maintain the appropriate current license for clinical social work, marital and family therapist, professional counselor, registered nurse, psychologist or alcohol and drug counselor.

Experience working in outpatient settings providing mental health and substance abuse services within the community
Experience providing supervision in an outpatient setting to staff who treat clients with mental health and substance abuse diagnoses
Experience providing trauma informed and culturally appropriate services to clients with mental health and substance abuse diagnoses
Experience in risk management, crisis intervention and triage
Experience using MS Office Suite software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Current licensure e.g. Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Responsibilities

Provides direct clinical and administrative supervision to team supervisors and ensures daily program operations meet regulatory standards
Oversees staff coaching, training, evaluations, corrective action, and addresses employee-relations issues including conflict resolution
Ensures risk management, safety, confidentiality, and mandatory reporting procedures are followed across all programs
Collaborates with hospitals, law enforcement, courts, community providers, and substance-use treatment partners to coordinate care
Responds to crises and critical incidents (including after-hours), monitors program performance, and promotes trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care
Manages the staff and operations of a clinical program, discipline or specialized area
Coordinates, plans and manages program activities
Formulates program goals and objectives
Develops or assists in the development and implementation of related policy
Interprets and administers pertinent laws
Monitors and evaluates staff
Prepares or assists in preparation of program budget
Maintains contacts with individuals both within and outside of program who might impact on program activities
Ensures program compliance with standards established by outside monitoring agencies
Participates in grant and contract preparation and administration
Manages the recruitment, selection and retention of program staff
Ensures compliance with quality assurance findings and recommendations
Promotes cultural diversity in workplace and ensures client/individuals rights
Identifies and plans training and development needs
Analyzes problems at program level and takes appropriate action
Initiates workforce planning and monitors staff utilization to meet identified goals
Prepares or oversees preparation of reports
Investigates and responds to critical incidents
