About The Position

Since 1986, The Project has served people living with HIV/AIDS with remarkable care and radical acceptance. We take a holistic approach to health care by treating the entire individual. Our services include a sexual health clinic, no-cost mental health services, LGBTQ+ health care, and more. The Project is excited to announce an opening for a Behavioral Health Clinical Manager. Under the general guidance and mentorship of the Director of Healthcare Operations, this role coordinates and oversees the activities of the behavioral health department and clinical team to ensure the compassionate, effective, and efficient delivery of high-quality, ethical, culturally competent, and LGBTQ+ affirming care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a mental health field, social work, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed mental health professional.
  • Desire and ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to engaging in training workshops, team and department meetings, and critical conversations for how The Project can better meet the needs of those we serve.
  • Current, active licensure in good standing in Illinois as one of the following: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Current, active licensure in good standing in Iowa as one of the following: Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Willingness and ability to obtain Iowa licensure promptly following employment if not already held.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising provisionally licensed clinicians and interns, with responsibility for clinical oversight and skill development.
  • Strong cultural awareness of people living with HIV/AIDS, men who have sex with men, communities of color, and people with substance use issues, and how this may affect or influence service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the activities of the behavioral health department and clinical team.
  • Ensure the compassionate, effective, and efficient delivery of high-quality, ethical, culturally competent, and LGBTQ+ affirming care.
  • Supervise and support a dedicated behavioral health team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, ethical, and affirming care through clinical supervision, team leadership, and staff development.
  • Strengthen and expand services through program development, quality improvement, and implementation of evidence-based practices.
  • Improve access and outcomes for those served.
  • Model organizational values, build meaningful partnerships, and represent the Project in ways that advance its mission.
  • Supervise 2.8 FTE, including Behavioral Health Clinicians and the Transgender & Gender Expansive Care Navigator, and provide additional supervision to interns as needed.

  • 401k: Employees can start contributing after six months. Once they start contributing, TPQC will match 5% and the funds are immediately vested.
  • PTO: 3 weeks a year (accrual base system) with higher accrual rates at 3 and 6 years of tenure.
  • Sick Time: 80 hours every year (employees that start later than January has a prorated amount).
  • Bereavement: 80 hours a year.
  • EOY Break: 1.5 weeks off (paid) at the end of the year for the Holidays.

  • Education Credit: $2000 a year for tuition or continuing education. Employees are eligible after 2 years of employment.
