About The Position

The Behavior Coach is responsible to provide training and coaching to certified/classified staff for implementation of trauma-informed practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, Applied Behavior Analysis, social work, psychology, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years successfully supporting students with trauma histories, mental health diagnosis, and significant social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Successful experience as a member of a clinical or special education team.
  • Successful experience providing training and leadership to adult learners.
  • Knowledge and successful use of current research-based instruction, trauma informed, and behavioral strategies.
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability and desire to work as a contributing, collaborative member of a team.
  • Ability to effectively coach and mentor educators.
  • Ability to provide engaging research based professional development.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate Degree or other advanced education in special education preferred.
  • Kansas Special Education Certification in ED, social work, or school psychology preferred.
  • Experience in a psychiatric/therapeutic day or residential facility for children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Safe Crisis Management (SCM) initial, re-certification, and booster training for building staff.
  • Serve as a consultant to the building MTSS team regarding behavior and social emotional needs at all tiers 1, 2, & 3.
  • Observe students and support trauma informed problem-solving with teams prior to proposal for ED placement.
  • Assist teams in developing Functional Behavior Assessments and related Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Assist with transitions between programs.
  • Participate in team problem solving meetings to prevent over-identification of students exhibiting significant behaviors and safely support them in their least restrictive environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
