About The Position

Merakey is seeking a Behavior Technician for its school program in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. The technician works one-on-one with autistic and emotional-support students, following each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP) to support academic and behavioral goals. Work takes place in a trauma-informed environment as part of a team focused on students’ development. No prior experience is required, and paid training is provided. The role is fee-for-service and pays $18.50 per hour. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday during the school day; the posting gives 8:30 a.m.–3:15 p.m. in the overview and 8:15 a.m.–3:15 p.m. in the qualifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday for the full school day; the posting lists 8:15 a.m.–3:15 p.m. in the qualifications.
• Ability to perform medium work: exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and/or 10 pounds continuously.
• Ability to perform heavy work: exert up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and/or over 20 pounds continuously.

Nice To Haves

• Three to six months of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Experience working with children with autism.

Responsibilities

• Complete timely ongoing data collection, parent and staff correspondence, and required documentation.
• Provide behavioral and physical interventions as needed, which may include prompting, guided transport, or physical restraint; appropriate training is provided based on program regulations.
• Monitor student performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
• Accompany and assist students with activities and daily living, which may include toileting and grooming.
• Collaborate with families and the team to support continuity of care.
• Implement and follow the assigned student’s behavior plan and individualized reinforcement systems.
• Complete required training as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
