About The Position

Family of Kidz has brought together highly qualified teams of professionals who work diligently to help children with special needs, from birth to adulthood. Our focus is on establishing a strong understanding of each child’s needs and teaching them skills that lead to greater independence and an enhanced quality of life. This role is school-based in New Rochelle, NY, and involves supporting students with special needs. The position follows the school district calendar and offers part-time hours.

Requirements

Minimum of 6 months working with children or adolescents with special needs in a supervised setting
Must be fluent in ASL (American Sign Language)
Minimum of High School Diploma required
Must have reliable transportation
Critical thinker with a problem-solving mind

Nice To Haves

Successful completion of or current enrollment in an undergraduate program in psychology, healthcare, human services, education or related field preferred
Experience with students with autism and/or maladaptive behaviors preferred
Bilingual is a plus

Responsibilities

Respond to the goals, needs and requests of students and supervisors, on an individualized basis, and in a professional manner.
Work closely with school personnel (e.g. classroom/ special teachers, TAs, school psychologist, social worker, behavior consultant, related service provider) to ensure the student’s success in the classroom.
Work collaboratively with a behavior consultant and/or clinical supervisor to provide academic, behavioral, and social/emotional support to student with special needs
Assist with classroom assignments under the direction of the classroom teacher.
Implementation of behavior support plans or skill acquisition programs (data collection, progress reporting, CPI training and implementation)
Help with daily living tasks, such as mobility, hygiene, and transitions.
Escort the student to different locations (bathroom, cafeteria, therapy sessions).
Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding students in accordance with State and Federal regulations
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Understand and demonstrate the company core values.
