Behavior Support Specialist - Full Time

We are looking for a behavioral specialist to join our team and provide therapeutic support to individuals with behavioral issues.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Valid driver license must be maintained.
- One (1) year previous experience in a Psychiatric facility preferred.
- One (1) year experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Intellectual Disabilities preferred.
- Devereux has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and maintains policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse to occur in our organization.
- Devereux fosters a culture of reporting abuse, and will cooperate with the authorities to the fullest extent possible.

Responsibilities
- Helping children overcome challenges in learning, problem solving, impulse control, judgement, communication, social interaction, and adaptive functioning (activities of daily living).
- Assisting individuals who may not be toilet trained, requiring staff to change diapers and pull ups.
- Managing challenging behaviors such as hitting, biting, kicking, scratching, and pinching.
- Supporting children who struggle with managing their emotions and may engage in physical or verbal aggression.
- Creating individualized treatment and education plans that leverage the strengths of each child while addressing their specific behaviors and teaching them skills.
