About The Position

This person in this position is a critical member of the services planning team, responsible for all aspects of behavior programming including observation, evaluation, development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance. The service will focus on capabilities that can be enhanced and deficits which can be ameliorated thereby promoting and supporting self-determination and independence. As part of this position, while employed within this program, the employee can reasonably anticipate that as a result of performing this position and its listed job duties, there is the potential of contact with potentially infectious materials and universal infection control procedures must be utilized as per policy and procedure.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited program in the field of psychology and at least one year experience in the assessment of the developmentally disabled individual and development of behavioral programs for the developmentally disabled preferred.
  • OR a LCSW with experience in the assessment of developmentally disabled individuals/development of behavioral programs preferred.
  • OPWDD waiver clearance before offering of position.
  • Highly developed ability in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests, specifically objective, projective, and neurological test batteries.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in clinical interviewing.
  • Demonstrated ability in group therapy, group management, individual therapy, and family counseling.
  • Excellent supervisory skills to oversee the work of interns and staff assigned to the psychology lab.
  • Demonstrated skills in consultation and the ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the behavior programming: observation, evaluation, development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the documentation for all aspects of the programming.
  • Assure all psychological and related services shall be rendered according to an approved plan under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
  • Fully participate as a member of the program team by providing programmatic input regarding programs and staff development.
  • Provide upon admission a review or a full scale psychological per each individual, as applicable.
  • Perform annual review of records and update.
  • Provide and/or arrange for a full-scale psychological evaluation based on team request or identified need.
  • Provide a progress note on all behavioral programming, as per agreed schedule.
  • Attend or arrange for participation at the annuals, bi-annuals or special meetings-participating as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team and assisting with the total program planning.
  • Provide and/or arrange for consistent service area observation and monitoring of programs, plus the accompanying service area observation documentation, as required.
  • Provide or arrange for assessment of each program participant’s intellectual, social, and emotional functioning. This in turn will assist in the diagnosis of developmental disabilities and in the planning and implementation of appropriate services for (admissions/annuals as requested).
  • Develop and present educational training programs for families of program participants and provider staff who assist in the treatment, habilitation and rehabilitation of program participants.
  • Maintain proper storage and confidentiality of all files.

  • Participate in regulated/mandatory in-service training programs.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record: a. Arrival and departure according to assigned hours. b. An attendance record that reflects commitment to job. c. Consistently adhere to the staff schedules regarding arrival, breaks, lunch and departure.
  • Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward peers and program participants regarding programming and work interactions.
  • Exhibit a level of dependability that needs only minimal supervision regarding job responsibility.

  • Maintain a personality that remains objective, creative, and alert to new ideas and directives regarding programming and peer interactions.
  • Consistently meet program deadlines for documentation.
  • Participate as a member of the program team by providing programmatic input regarding programs and staff development.
  • Requisition required equipment and maintain inventory of items.
  • Develop and arrange for the monitoring of all behavioral tracking documentation.
  • Develop and implement special programming and counseling opportunities.
  • Provide initial employee empathy and behavioral management training.
