About The Position
The Behavior Aide supports an assigned student as determined by the student’s individualized education plan (IEP), providing customized behavior support, accommodations, modifications, and instruction in valuable life skills. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides holistic guidance and support in special education and alternative education settings. The Behavior Aide works with students from diverse developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds and helps foster an inclusive environment that supports appropriate social and behavioral skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma.

- Experience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive behavioral needs.
Responsibilities
- Work one on one with an assigned student to meet goals in their IEP, providing accommodations and modifications as necessary.
- Assist in developing and modifying behavior support plans.
- Implement behavior support plans and record and track behavior, progress toward goals, and incident data.
- Use behavior support and intervention strategies.
- Use de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint if necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages appropriate social and behavioral skill development.
- Supervise students and ensure they are monitored, including while traveling to and from appropriate school locations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support consistent implementation of behavior support plans.
- Provide personal care support depending on the student’s needs.
- Communicate effectively with parents.
