About The Position

The Beged Kefet teacher assistant helps teach Hebrew to students in grades K–5 and supports development of their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The role includes preparing and delivering lessons, evaluating homework, maintaining student records and grades, communicating progress to parents, and supporting school-year events. The assistant is expected to foster a welcoming, respectful environment, serve as a positive role model, and represent the Peninsula Jewish Community Center professionally.

Requirements

• Fluency in Hebrew, including speaking, reading, and writing.
• Comprehensive understanding of Israeli culture.
• Clear a background check, including fingerprints, a Child Abuse Index Check, and a medical/TB exam.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate information clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees.
• Ability to multitask and adjust priorities when required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010.
• Positive, upbeat, and enthusiastic approach to working in a nonprofit environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement lesson plans for each class based on program goals.
• Assign, collect, and evaluate appropriate homework assignments.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and grades based on completed assignments, and upload information to the school website so parents can view student status and progress.
• Participate in orientation meetings with parents to review academic goals for the school year.
• Help organize and host several parties during the school year focused on various Jewish holiday themes.
• Create and actively promote a comfortable, welcoming environment where every participant is treated with dignity and respect in a friendly, personalized manner.
• Serve as a positive role model to children and staff when interacting with children.
• Represent the PJCC professionally and provide excellent customer service.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
