About The Position

The Before and After School Assistant Teacher supports the YMCA’s work to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The role creates a safe, positive atmosphere that welcomes children and families while supporting a strong educational program in accordance with YMCA policies and applicable licensing and quality requirements. The position is based at Jennersville BASE Penn London in West Grove, Pennsylvania, and pays $16.00–$20.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Keep an up-to-date DHS file.
• Obtain and maintain all new-hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• 2,500 hours of childcare service (two years) is preferred.
• 30 college credit hours in early childhood, elementary education, or a related human services field.
• 15 college credit hours and one year of experience related to care.
• Current CDA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with children to encourage their development and involvement in activities.
• Maintain records, including accident and incident reports, sign-in and sign-out sheets, and attendance records.
• Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do so.
• Provide care for children's needs.
• Ensure compliance with YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
