Before and After School Teacher Assistant
About The Position
AlphaBEST Education provides extended-day, summer, and enrichment programs designed to inspire and engage students beyond the school day in a fun, safe environment. The Before and After School Teacher Assistant helps create meaningful before- and after-school experiences that support children’s learning, growth, and well-being. The role is part-time and based at Signal Hill, Round, Mullen, Victory, Pennington Traditional, or Sudley Elementary in Manassas, Virginia. Morning hours are 6:00–9:15 AM and afternoon hours are 3:00–6:30 PM; there is no weekend work. Pay is $14.50–$17.00 per hour. Part-time benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage. AlphaBEST offers hands-on training and experience for those exploring education, leadership, or other career paths.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a classroom setting with regular bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing needs.
- Must pass a background screening and Central Registry check.
- Enjoy working with children in a structured, high-energy environment.
- Take child safety seriously and follow procedures closely.
- Be flexible, reliable, and ready to help where needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily curriculum activities, including World Languages, STEAM, Fitness, Maker, and Arts.
- Encourage positive interactions among students.
- Make child safety the top priority and follow procedures.
- Keep the space clean and organized.
- Help create an environment where children feel supported and included.
- Build strong relationships with teammates, children, families, and school staff.
