About The Position

The Assistant Site Director supports the Site Director in overseeing the daily operations and management of the before and after school program. This role requires a creative, program-driven, and structured individual who can help design, implement, and support engaging activities while maintaining consistency and organization. The Assistant Site Director works to support continuous improvement by defining goals, timelines, and securing the resources necessary to achieve optimal performance. This position also assists the Site Director with all administrative functions. The Assistant Site Director will exhibit positive role model qualities in all aspects of their interactions and will continually maintain and exemplify Discover After School’s mission and core values. We are seeking a dependable and committed individual with a reliable commute, as consistency and punctuality are essential to program success.

Requirements

  • Must complete the 40-hour Introductory Child Care Training approved by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) prior to start date
  • Must also complete one of the following: Part II “Special Needs Appropriate Practices” or at least 8 hours of training in serving children with disabilities, 10-hour “School-Age Appropriate Practices” module, or 5-hour “Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices” and 5-hour “School-Age Appropriate Practices” courses
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening
  • Satisfactory Drug Screening
  • Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills in English

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who already possess the required DCF training certifications are strongly preferred
  • Experience with children: 1–2 years
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a support to the Site Director and counselors in daily program operations
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing structured, creative, and program-based activities aligned with program goals
  • Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, absences, and emergency information for each child
  • Maintain all other records regarding schedule changes, behavior, and incident reports
  • Effectively supervise and evaluate the job performance of counselors
  • Encourage open communication regarding concerns or issues with children, parents, or co-workers
  • Present positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants
  • Support a safe, engaging, and well-structured environment at all times
  • Oversee and participate in the cleaning and maintaining of facilities, equipment, and all areas used
  • Take care of all supplies, equipment, and materials; be respectful of school property; ensure all school rules are followed
