About The Position

The Beautician/Cosmetologist provides beauty and grooming services to individuals at GRHS, including those who cannot come to the salon and need services in their living quarters. The role involves adapting services to individuals’ unique needs, including individuals who are confined to hospital beds or wheelchairs and those who may exhibit challenging behavior. The position also supports vocational and work-training programs by teaching beauty-shop duties and grooming-related classes. This is a part-time position paying $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Current Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers license.
One year of job-related experience providing barbering or cosmetician services to groups of individuals in a human service setting.

Responsibilities

Schedule appointments and maintain an accurate appointment calendar.
Maintain records of services performed and supplies used, and order additional supplies as needed.
Provide services in the salon or in individuals’ living quarters when they cannot come to the shop.
Adapt services to individuals’ unique needs, including those confined to hospital beds or wheelchairs and those who may display challenging behaviors.
Support the Work/Training Program by training individuals in beauty-shop duties as part of the Vocational Program.
Teach grooming, dress/fashion, and make-up classes to individuals whose treatment plans include those goals.
Provide manicures, including filing nails, grooming cuticles, and applying nail polish and base coat as appropriate.
Cut and file nails safely, without injuring patients or leaving rough edges, and in a becoming manner.
Encourage individuals to participate in selecting colors and finishes.
Repair injured nails as appropriate.
