About The Position

Our high-volume barber/beauty shop at the United States Naval Academy is looking for talented individuals to join our team. We service over 4,000 students on our beautiful campus in Annapolis, MD. This role requires skill, speed, and professionalism to meet the demands of a busy environment.

Requirements

Experience performing Beautician/Barber duties, which may include, but are not limited to cutting and shaping all types/textures of hair, performing scalp treatments, shampooing and styling hair.
Satisfactory completion from a certified school of Barbering or Cosmetology, or have the ability to obtain a state Barber or Cosmetology license within 30 days.
Experience as a Beautician/Barber.
Beautician/Barber experience with all types and textures of hair.
Barbering/Beautician experience with military hairstyles.
Experience using shears, electric clippers and trimmers.
Experience in performing hair care treatments.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance – requires 18 years of age
Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Verification of employment eligibility in the United States is required - We are an E-Verify participant
Must be able to understand and communicate in English
Must complete an Occupational Health screening for this position
Participation in Direct Deposit
Must maintain the privacy of official work information and data, and demonstrate the highest level of ethical conduct

Nice To Haves

Ability to perform protective hairstyles (braiding) and/or basic updos preferred.

Responsibilities

Shampoos, styles, shapes, waves, straightens, cuts and curls patron’s hair
Cuts and shapes the hair into various cuts and styles to suit the patron
Performs scalp treatments as requested
Works on straight, wavy, curly or kinky hair and develops a style that is appropriate and becoming to the individual
Checks condition of skin, scalp and hair of the patron for disorders such as sores, abrasions, diseases and so forth, which may interfere with the requested service or which may require medical attention
Keeps working areas of the Barber/Beauty Shop clean and maintains tools and equipment in a sterilized and sanitary condition.
Prepares needed tools and accessories so they are available when the patron arrives.
Operates an automatic washer/dryer
Maintains a minimum pace of one haircut every fifteen minutes when cutting men’s hair and one every forty-five minutes when cutting women’s hair
