About The Position

The Beautician/Barber provides grooming and styling services to residents, helping support their personal appearance, well-being, confidence, and comfort. The role includes haircuts, styling, shaving, and other beauty treatments tailored to residents’ preferences, along with consulting residents about their needs and recommending suitable services. Services must be delivered professionally and within the scope of the required state certification or license.

The Beautician/Barber maintains a clean and safe work environment, follows sanitation and infection-control standards, and manages service schedules and itemized records for payment. The role requires professional liability insurance and responsibility for confirming residents’ ability to pay for services.

Requirements

• Certification or diploma from an accredited cosmetology or barbering program.
• Valid state or local license to practice as a beautician or barber.
• Professional liability insurance coverage.
• Knowledge of infection-control and sanitation standards in a salon or healthcare environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse client populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide hair cutting, styling, shaving, and grooming services tailored to individual resident preferences.
• Consult with residents to understand their needs and recommend appropriate beauty and grooming treatments.
• Provide services professionally and within the scope permitted by state certification or licensure.
• Provide the Administrator with a weekly schedule of service dates and times for residents.
• Maintain itemized records of services and charges, and submit statements or invoices to the Business Office for payment.
• Confirm residents’ ability to pay for services.
• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with health and safety regulations.
