As a member of the Battery Modeling team, onsite in Cupertino, CA, the Battery Thermal Engineer, expect in ICEPAK AEDT will be responsible for thermal modeling across all products, developing state-of-the-art thermal and multi-physics finite volume (FE) models of cell, pack, and BMS sub-systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Project Management, Computer Science, or a related discipline OR University degree in a technical, business, or project management-related field. OR MS/PhD + 3 years of industry experience
  • Mechanical engineering background with a strong foundation in CFD and thermal modeling
  • Expert-level skillset in Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) and ICEPAK within AEDT
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages

Responsibilities

  • Generate models/capability to convert power maps into thermal outputs
  • Perform advanced thermal/CFD simulations to evaluate boundary conditions at the cell, pack, and BMS sub-system levels, as well as system-wide
  • Use best-in-class tools and solvers to generate simulation models and results
  • Develop optimized workflows and reusable templates for recurring thermal simulations
  • Develop and implement thermal modeling best practices
  • Collaborate with CAE vendors to drive functionality improvements
  • Explore new analysis types and solutions, including topological optimization
  • Extract Reduced Order Models (ROM) from CFD simulations to accelerate exploratory studies
