About The Position

Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Battery Engineering Team Manager. The expected annual salary range for this role is $137000 - $201000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Eaton is seeking an experienced Battery Team Manager for its Power Electronics (PE) and Battery Centers of Excellence (CoE) team in Raleigh, NC. Position requires up to 15% domestic and international travel. Eaton’s PE-Battery CoE accelerates the company’s growth by developing power electronics platforms and common hardware building blocks that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable. These platforms and blocks, along with standardized design methodologies, can be adopted by multiple business units, providing a foundation for rapidly developing innovative products. The team manager will be responsible for leading and directing a team of engineers and internal projects, as well as designing and building innovative battery solutions for Eaton’s products. This position requires a technically strong engineer with leadership skills capable of managing a cross-functional team and collaborating with global teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience in battery cell technology, battery systems, battery materials, electrification, or energy storage systems.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering team leadership or technical management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of lithium-ion battery cells, battery materials, battery pack design, electrochemistry, and battery validation.
  • Experience in battery technology strategy, technology road mapping, and supplier scouting/selection.
  • Experience leading battery product development programs, including requirements definition, risk management, budget management, and stage-gate execution.
  • Experience managing global suppliers, RFQs, technical evaluations, PPAP, and commercialization activities.
  • Knowledge of battery testing, cell characterization, and performance validation methodologies.
  • Experience with battery modeling and simulation teams or cell evaluation activities.
  • Knowledge of DFSS, Six Sigma, APQP, or related engineering development processes.
  • Strong project/program management skills with demonstrated success delivering complex electrification programs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.
  • Experience working with global customers, suppliers, and engineering organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs a team of engineers and projects to achieve stated goals and objectives.
  • Monitors and reports on overall performance of the team and projects. Establishes a performance-based culture, motivating the team to set and achieve measurable goals and objectives that align with Battery CoE strategies.
  • Performs design, modeling, simulation, and implementation of battery solutions such as battery modules, packs, and BMS
  • Develops technical requirements and creates technical reports and presentations.
  • Works with the PE-Battery CoE leaders to attract, coach, and mentor team members, strengthening the technical capability of the team.
  • Stays current with the latest battery technologies and business trends, applies knowledge to Eaton’s products, and creates new opportunities.
