Battery Changer - 1st Shift Maintenance

About The Position

The Battery Changer performs basic battery maintenance and assigned preventive maintenance to keep batteries and distribution center equipment in good working order. The role also supports mechanics, addresses and reports equipment issues, operates waste-handling equipment, and maintains safety items throughout the distribution center. The employee must follow all safety rules and proper Lock Out Tag Out procedures and be licensed to operate a lift.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and understand implied instructions.
Regular attendance is required.
General mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hand tools.
Understanding of battery maintenance and techniques.
Ability to learn and comprehend distribution/production business operations.
Good communication skills.
License to operate a lift.

Responsibilities

Perform basic maintenance as needed to keep batteries in good working order and ready for use.
Perform preventive maintenance on tape machines, dock doors, and dock plates.
Assist mechanics with general duties.
Follow up on and resolve issues.
Complete assigned preventive maintenance on equipment.
Report problems and issue results to DC Management.
Gather trash and recyclable items from containers.
Operate the trash compactor and baler.
Clean, maintain, and repair all DC tape machines.
Maintain safety signs, the lift area, eye wash stations, and general DC safety items.
Follow all safety rules and proper Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
Perform other assigned duties.
