Under the general direction of the Deputy Chief, the Battalion Chief performs a variety of technical, administrative, and supervisory duties on an assigned shift. The Battalion Chief is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and implementing the activities of all personnel assigned to duty on 24-hour battalions, under all types of emergency and non-emergency situations, management of personnel, clerical, inspection, and communication duties. The Battalion Chief POX can work various shifts and is expected to work a minimum of 56 hours per month. These hours can either be administrative, operational or a combination of both.
