Crew Chief
About The Position
Atwell, LLC is a leading consulting, engineering, and construction services firm with a national presence and a diverse project portfolio. We are seeking a Crew Chief to perform survey activities, including leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and profile and cross-section surveys. The role involves operating Trimble survey equipment, measuring distances, angles, and elevations, reviewing field calculations, locating control points, and utilizing Trimble equipment for utility mapping. The Crew Chief will also prepare field notes, complete as-built drawings, maintain company equipment, follow safety protocols, and interpret engineering plans. Additionally, this role includes assisting with new hire training, career planning, and professional development for crew members, and motivating the team with bonuses and recognition.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role performing boundary, ALTA, Asbuilt, and Construction Staking surveys
- Ability to effectively communicate with contractors, inspectors and team leaders.

- Experience with Trimble equipment
Responsibilities
- Perform survey activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and profile and cross-section surveys.
- Set up, adjust, and operate Trimble survey equipment including total station, data collector, and GPS equipment.
- Measure distances, angles, and elevations for staking purposes.
- Review survey field calculations and adjust when needed.
- Locate or establish vertical and horizontal control.
- Utilize Trimble equipment to measure all utility points including curb and gutter, water & sewer, storm drain, and paving.
- Prepare accurate field notes and complete as-built drawings.
- Maintain work-issued vehicles, laptops, and survey equipment.
- Follow Atwell’s safety protocols.
- Read and interpret engineering plans.
- Assist with your crew member's new hire training plan, career planning, and continuous professional development at Atwell.
