About The Position

The Batch / Packaging Operator supports the production of high-quality premix products by performing duties in either the Batching or Packaging area of the Effingham Premix facility. Placement will be based on business needs and the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. Team members may also have opportunities to cross-train and support both areas as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and communicate effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to work safely and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Sequence cleanouts for each shift.
  • Sequence daily mixing for the shift.
  • Coordinate, prioritize, and communicate when batches need to be dumped.
  • Operate the batching computer.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Ensure the system is fully cleaned to prevent cross-contamination between products.
  • Understand and utilize the Oracle system and other production databases.
  • Ensure the correct hand adds are placed in the appropriate products.
  • Read and follow all Batch Mixing Instructions (BMI).
  • Verify micro card locations on each micro tub and check for accuracy.
  • Ensure proper micro tubs are placed at the correct mixer for cut-in personnel.
  • Monitor and maintain micro-bin inventory levels.
  • Operate the liquid hand-add system.
  • Assist Hand Add colleagues with dumping ingredients.
  • Package finished product according to Batch Mixing Instructions (BMI).
  • Verify finished product quantities match the BMI.
  • Ensure product is bagged into the correct labeled container.
  • Verify lot numbers, pallet cards, product codes, and tag codes are accurately recorded on the batch ticket.
  • Collect product samples from designated batches for third-party testing and retain samples as required.
  • Ensure product quality standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed.
  • Operate both toting and bagging lines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Complete assigned housekeeping tasks in accordance with the master sanitation schedule.
  • Follow all quality, food safety, and company policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with team members across production areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
