About The Position

The Batch Application Programmer at Gainwell contributes to technology solutions that help clients improve health and human services outcomes. The role designs, develops, installs, tests, and documents application software, including server, client, and web components. It also contributes to technical architecture, coordinates with application architects and developers to ensure design requirements are accurate, and develops project requirements, functional specifications, application solution designs, technical documentation, and test plans. The programmer works closely with software developers to advance goals for Gainwell and its clients.

This is a fully remote opportunity, available anywhere in the United States, with 0–10% travel. The role requires flexibility to accommodate business needs and travel. Video cameras are required during interviews and the initial week of orientation. The application deadline is December 30, 2026. The stated annual pay range is $58,200–$83,200, with the offered base pay depending on factors such as geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of software design, development, and application support experience.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with C Batch, Unix/Linux, and SQL.
• Strong knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), software design principles, operating systems, and application development policies and procedures.
• Proven programming and technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to design, develop, and support solutions across multiple programming languages and environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, install, test, and document application software, including server, client, and web components.
• Design, document, and deliver technical architecture solution elements.
• Coordinate between application architects and developers to ensure design requirements are accurate and deliver the desired client ROI.
• Define and develop project requirements, functional specifications, and detailed application solution designs for clients.
• Develop technical documentation and test plans to support integration and deployment.
• Work closely with software developers to advance goals and objectives for Gainwell and its clients.
